There are many different stories about the history and meaning of advents. For me it is a small gift of love to open the 24 days leading up to Christmas. With this year being such a rough one I wanted to do something for Mom and Nan as well. So this year Mom & Nan each got a photo covered envelope with a note, quote or memory inside to open each morning.
This is the second year my nieces, Elizabeth and Megan, have received advents and our girls are on their third year! I also wanted to give my SIL, Jan, a daily envelope with a few presents too - because she has so much fun with the girls opening theirs.
This morning all 4 girls opened their advent letting them know that they will be having a sleepover, dinner and games. Each girl got a randomly chosen 'course' on the back of their morning letter ~ letting them know what meal they were responsible for choosing and making. Jan will be dropping the girls off at Save-On-Foods where each girl will have to shop for what they need and then we will go home and prep each of the 4 courses. Paige is starting with soup, Megan is next with an appy, Elizabeth got the Entree, and Taeya got dessert....Should be fun....I'll post the pics tomorrow!!
